Innsbruck – Salzburg

Four Rivers, Tradition and High Culture.

Are you looking for an entry-level route for occasional cyclists and want to admire the magnificent, majestic landscape of Austria? Then Eurobike has just the trip for you! The seven-day cycle tour travels from Innsbruck to Salzburg and through the Alps and valleys of western Austria. Tyrolean customs paired with regal Salzburg make this trip a real gem for culture lovers.

Details of the cycle tour from Innsbruck to Salzburg

From Innsbruck you cycle comfortably along the Inn cycle path with the towering Nordkette mountain range as your constant companion. Then it’s off to the idyllic Zillertal and over the Gerols alpine road by bus. On day four you will reach the Tauern cycle path, which is the best developed in the Salzburg area. On the route: the largest waterfalls in Europe, embedded into a unique landscape. Along the Salzach river you cycle to Zell am See and the Zeller Lake, where you can see the reflection of the snow-covered Kitzteinhorn. Your last river companion on the bike tour is the Saalach, until you finally arrive in Salzburg.

Highlights of the tour at a glance:

  • The roaring Krimml waterfalls: Experience the unrestrained power of water up close and listen as it plummets 380 meters towards earth!
  • Hohe Tauern National Park with fairy tale mountain scenery: Three thousand meter peaks, breathtaking scenery – and you are in the thick of it. The largest conservation area in Central Europe is home to the mightiest peaks in Austria, and the largest glacial areas of the Eastern Alps.

Useful information about the cycle tour from Innsbruck to Salzburg

Seven days of leisurely cycling through two federal states. The cycle paths are mainly in the valleys of the Inn, Ziller, Salzach and Saalach and provide an opportunity to see the area’s unique natural beauty. At individual stages, the tour may have brief, gentle hills and short climbs. Every day you travel between 20 and 60 kilometres. Once you arrive at the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – your final destination of Salzburg – you absolutely must try the Salzburg Nockerl! (A sweet speciality of the region.)

Amazing Trip
This was our first European Bike trip and it was AMAZING. The views were beautiful and we really got to see areas that the average tourist does not see. The accommodations were lovely. We got a little lost on bikes in the bigger cities, but the rest was amazing!! Self guided was great because we could determine the course of our own day and ride at our own pave. We will definitely book again!!!

Fantastic Ride
The ride was fantastic. The route was easy to ride. The days allowed for leisure time or a short side trip. This is a well planned trip with great hotels. While there was a bit of confusion with the short orientation, they didn’t have a bike which I had booked they did a great job of dealing with the issue and responding to my questions and needs. Some issues can occur with travel, it’s how people respond when dealing with a situation. The people at Eurobike were awesome. I’d recommend this trip and Eurobike to anyone.

Excellent Innsbruck to Salzburg
This was my first self guided cycle trip. The initial questions that I had were before and through the booking process were responded to promptly. At the initial meeting they didn't have a bike for me and I was missing the first 2 days of maps. They did a great job of dealing with this and responding to my questions. In fact they delivered a different bike to the hotel where I stayed the first night. Even though I had some intitial concerns the people I spoke to were fantastic and did a great job of dealing with the initial concerns. Issues can come up, it's how people and the company respond that make the difference. The routes were well marked although the trip from Lofer to Salzburg had lots of signs so you really had to pay attention to be sure you were on the right path. Hotels were well located and easy to find on the route. I would reccomend this company to everyone.
