In terms of tourism, the country is unfortunately often unfairly overshadowed by its larger neighbour, the Netherlands. The romantic riverbanks, sparse forests and meadows lined with willows invite every cyclist to linger and guarantees relaxation and inspiration at the highest level. Historic towns & open nature
Many Belgian cities such as Bruges, Antwerp or Ghent are characterised by international trade and whose historic buildings are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites in many places. They stand in direct contrast to the surrounding agricultural countryside, where picturesque villages alternate with vast fields and pastures. Belgium also has an extensive network of paths for cycle tours - in the Belgian and Dutch province of Limburg alone, there are more than 1800 kilometres of routes that are almost exclusively reserved for cycling. The north of Belgium is pleasantly almost free of hills, only in the south and in the region of the Ardennes can you expect gradients.
Cycling beyond the borders
As already mentioned, Belgium is often overshadowed by the Netherlands. But even though the Netherlands is the cycling nation par excellence, Belgium should by no means be underestimated. Thanks to its well-developed cycling network, its breathtaking natural scenery and its cultural highlights, Belgium is becoming increasingly popular with cycling tourists. Bruges - Amsterdam
Although this cycle tour looks similar at first glance, many new features await you. This time the holiday starts in the Belgian city of Bruges and leads along the North Sea to the Dutch heart, Amsterdam. On completely flat, asphalted cycle paths, you can devote yourself fully to beautiful nature and not miss a highlight.

Travelling by water and land
Waterways play just as important a role as land routes throughout the Benelux region. A fact we at Eurobike also like to take into account with our tours, leaving you spoilt for choice. Would you rather cycle yourself or spend a leisurely day on deck? The boats we use include, for example, the feel-good ship MS Fluvius with 22 outside cabins, bar, restaurant and sun deck, or the MS Magnifique III with its panorama salon and a whirlpool. Overland, our tours include following the Meuse and the historic Vennbahn railway line, which originally connected what is now Luxembourg with Aachen. After almost a century, the railway tracks were converted into a cycle path that now attracts cyclists from all over Europe.

The climate in Belgium
Due to its location on the North Sea, Belgium has a temperate maritime climate. This also means that there are not too many temperature differences between the seasons in Belgium. The summer is pleasantly mild with an average of 18 degrees and the winter is not too cold with 3 degrees. An optimal climate for a successful cycling trip. However, we recommend always packing extra clothes even in good weather conditions, as the weather can change quickly and the driving wind can also make you feel cold.
Belgian cuisine
What should not be missing after a day of cycling? A delicious dinner, of course, and Belgian cuisine is more than capable of providing that. It is inspired by both the nearby sea and French haute cuisine. Belgian specialities and favourite dishes include the popular French fries, mussels and waffles. Belgian beer is also world-famous, with more than 750 different varieties available for tasting. You deserve to feast on Belgian cuisine during your cycling tour. Enjoy your meal!
