Details of the tour to Majorca's east coast

This wonderful part of the earth will provide you with travel memories of a special kind! The first destination is the charming Artà in the countryside, where beguiling almond trees and olive groves lead the way. The following day, Manacor awaits, the "pearl town", where historic buildings merge with a modern city centre.

At Cap d'es Pinar, enjoy the still largely untouched nature and the characteristic flora of the white pine forests. The bays, such as Cala Bona, invite you to jump into the crystal-clear sea, and the numerous cafés and restaurants offer typical local delicacies from Arroz Brut to Ensaimadas. The largest stalactite caves on the island are also on the programme, as are the tranquil coastal town of Canyamel and the picturesque harbour town of Porto Cristo.

Highlights of the cycle tour based in one hotel

  • The pearl city of Manacor: "Hand on the heart" is the literal translation of the city's resonant name. You can let yourself be carried away by the warmth of the inhabitants. Incidentally, it takes its nickname from the largest Spanish artificial pearl factory, which you can visit and watch the creation of the high-quality pieces of jewellery.
  • Spectacular cliffs: Majorca is not an "easy" island and that's a good thing. It juts out of the sea, sometimes pointedly, and looks wild and unruly. The result is imposing cliffs and hidden bays. Enjoy the wonderful views of the sea!
  • Wonderful sandy beaches: The further you move away from the big tourist hotspots, the more dreamlike the Majorcan beaches and sea become. Who needs the Caribbean when you can find beautiful beaches around every corner?
  • The ‘dragon caves’ in Porto Cristo are impressive. An underground stalactite cave in which a huge lake extends. On which concerts also take place. Sounds extraordinary? Certainly - and that's why you shouldn't miss the sight.

Useful information about the cycle tour with Eurobike

This tour is a journey for all the senses and is suitable for all fitness levels. You cover between 20 and 50 km on the individual stages and have plenty of time to explore the beauties of the island - or to extend or shorten the tours as you wish. The rest day makes the tour all the more relaxing.

Itinerary

Transfer to Cala Millor/Sa Coma and to your hotel where you will find your travel documents and bikes. We recommend taking a walk along the promenade.

First, you will ride your bicycle via Sant Llorenc (church Santa Maria del Bellver from the 13th century) and through the picturesque hinterland of the island. Wonderful paths will lead you to Artà. Numerous alleys lead up to the hill on which the town was built. From the pilgrimage church Sant Salvador you will be able to enjoy a unique panoramic view of the surrounding coastline, the hills, the almond orchards and olive groves. On your way back, you will soon get to the coast and your hotel.

On your way, you will get to Son Carrio, where you should taste Ensaimades, “the lightest, softest, and most delicious pastry of the Balearic Island”. Refreshed, you will enjoy cycling over the gently rolling hills to Manacor and you will still have enough time to visit Majorca’s centre of artificial pearl production. On your way back to the hotel, you will find yourself on quiet ways which are easy to cycle.

On the fourth day, a short stage will lead you along the coast to the beautiful viewpoint Cap des Pinar. Here you will have a wonderful view of the bays of Cala Bona and Cala Millor. On your way back, cosy cafes in small ports invite you to stay. For sure, the fishermen, who are spending their afternoons there, have one or the other adventurous story to tell.

Today, no bike ride is on the agenda. We recommend a short hike/walk to the Punta de n’Amer, a 2 km long peninsula and nature reserve close to the hotel. Besides enjoying the Mediterranean flora and fauna, you can visit the defence tower Es Castell de sa Punta de n'Amer and the cave Cova de ses Crestes (a former cave dwelling).

The day starts with a relaxed bike ride to Capdepera with its triangular fortress and fortification wall that can be walked on. Then you will continue your trip on side roads with little traffic to Canyamel and to the caves of Artà. The impressive entrance, located about 50 metres above the sea, leads to Majorca’s largest flowstone cave. Your way back will lead to the defence tower Torre del Canyamel and past olive groves to your hotel.

On beautifully landscaped bike paths, you will cycle through the interior of the island to the viewpoint Punta de s’Estany with a marvellous view of the coast and sea. Then, you will continue your journey along the cliffs into the natural bay and harbour Porto Cristo with an interesting old town and the famous Dragon Caves, which extend over 1,700 metres. Before you return to your hotel, you should jump into the water, which was awarded with the “Blue Flag” for excellent water quality.

Tour character

The different stages between 20 and 50 kilometres can be cycled easily by anyone. Only a few slight climbs have to be mastered. Almost all of the ways are asphalted. The individual stages can be shortened or extended.

Alles in allem "Super". Die km-Angaben passen genau. Immer wieder gerne mit EUROBIKE.

Hervorragend
