Bolzano – Verona

Along river Adige to Romeo & Juliet.

The glittering expanse of Lake Garda and the bustle of Italian cities like Bolzano, Trento and Verona await you on this truly enchanting bike tour. Add to this the unique nature of South Tyrol and the culinary delights of Italy - this trip will make you forget all the challenges of everyday life and truly switch off!

Details of the cycle tour with Eurobike

In Bolzano, you can start your journey with a little indulgence - after your arrival, treat yourself to a cappuccino in the charming bars and toast the next seven days with a spritzer. With that, it's already "Buon Viaggio!" Along the South Tyrolean Wine Road to the 1st stage destination of Auer, you will pass not only the extensive vineyards and orchards, but also numerous historic buildings.

The Adige river takes you on to beautiful Trento and Rovereto, from where the journey continues to Lake Garda. Let us treat you to a pistachio ice cream and explore the enchanting lakeside towns of Desenzano and Sirmione before the route takes you on to Verona. The final day trip to Mantua offers wonderful natural landscapes with lakes, rivers and parks. In the city, one architectural masterpiece follows the next within the medieval city walls - Mantua is, after all, one of the most important art cities in Lombardy and, by the way, wonderful to explore on foot.

Highlights of the 7-day cycling tour from Bolzano to Verona

  • Walther Square in Bolzano exudes the perfect mix of Mediterranean bustle and South Tyrolean cosiness - depending on when you visit it. Incidentally, the square is named after the most famous minnesinger of the Middle Ages: Walther von der Vogelweide. He is said to have been born in South Tyrol, but we are not quite sure, which is why the square has been renamed several times over the years.
  • Magnificent views of Lake Kaltern: On day 2, the route leads past the wine village of Eppan and to one of the warmest lakes in the Alps. So if the weather is good, feel free to take a dip in the refreshing water and enjoy the views of the water sports enthusiasts on the lake and the surrounding countryside.
  • Boat trip on Lake Garda: A special highlight awaits you on day 4, where the cycling stage is followed by a boat trip along the entire length of the enchanting lake. Can you already feel the breeze in your hair and the Mediterranean flair?
  • By bike to the Arena in Verona: A city full of romance, culture and beauty - that's what you can confidently say about Verona. Where Romeo and Juliet fell in love, only "spring fever" can arise while strolling. But also explore the impressive Arena, where gladiators used to fight.

Useful information about the "Bolzano - Verona" tour

The 30 to 65 km long stages of the tour are complemented by a boat trip on Lake Garda and a train ride. The beautifully designed cycle paths, e.g. along the Adige river, are mainly flat with a few steeper climbs.

Radtour Bozen - Venedig in Corona Zeiten
Maske tragen sonst nichts besonderes. Also insgesamt eine sehr schöne Tour. Gerne wieder.

Wonderful bike trip, could not have been better
We cycled from Bozen to Verona in four days and had a wonderful experience. The support, equipment and materials from the Eurobike team were excellent. We had requested the GPX files ahead of our trip and loaded them into the app which proved a good idea since it reassured us to be on the correct route throughout. The maps were also very good but I wouldn't have liked to just rely on the maps (and they would have led us the wrong way between Kalterer See and Auer). Also very helpful are the Eurobike stickers on traffic signposts along the route once we started looking out for them. The route itself could not have been more beautiful and scenic and we were lucky with the weather too, although it was pretty hot. Our recommendation when cycling in August is to start as early as possible to avoid the midday heat and to carry Gatorade or some other drinks with electrolytes as they work like super fuel at the petrol station. On the way from Bozen we stopped at the Messner Mountain Museum which is a great way to learn about the history of South Tyrol and the mountains. Johannes had given us the great advice to go swimming in Kalterer See which was the perfect idea and there's a lake access right on the bike route (Klughammer). With exception of day one and three, the route is pretty flat but our worst stretch was between Salurn and Trento where we were cycling against strong wind in great heat. The route also lends itself for wine tastings and quick visits to old towns, particularly before reaching Salurn. My bike broke down once but Eurobike was quick to replace it on the same evening (a Sunday). Unfortunately this was the longest day, so we missed out on our swim in Lake Garda which is a must. The gelato stop in Mori is an excellent addition, just at the right time before the ascent to Lake Garda. The boat to Sirmione was my personal highlight - so beautiful and relaxing (and again we followed Johannes' perfect idea to buy some prosecco for the ride, thank you!). Our luggage was always there when we arrived at the hotel and all hotels were very comfortable and in proximity to the respective towns. The restaurants we tried out from the Eurobike recommendations were all very good. The Eurobike bike bags and the bandana were super useful and we also bought the helmets from them which served us well and fitted perfectly. We didn't do the additional tour to Mantova on day 5 but instead used the bike to go around Verona and enjoyed that very much. Overall the bike route was pretty empty with the exception of weekend race bikers. We haven't felt this relaxed after a vacation in a long time and the beautiful landscape, delicious food & wine and historic towns were a memorable reward for the efforts of each day. It's definitely not been our last trip with Eurobike!

Great family bike trip
We traveled with our four young adult children and two friends (eight people total) from St Moritz through the Alps to Pfunds and then down through northern Italy to Verona. We had a great experience overall with the route and also the organization. Bikes: we had no mechanical problems with the bikes (8 people x 8 days, on some very rough routes as well as very hot weather), not even a flat tire. This was pretty amazing. Hotels/luggage: The hotels were all nice and the luggage arrived on time every day. Also pretty amazing. Route: The route was very beautiful, every day. Our favorite part was probably the bike paths through the Swiss Alps. But we enjoyed all of it.

Toller Radurlaub in Italien - perfekt organisiert! Wunderschöne Landschaft, gepflegte Radwege, gutes Essen, schöne Städte, ... . Vor allem Verona und Sirmione haben und sehr gut gefallen. Die Entfernung der einzelnen Ziele war für uns wie maßgeschneidert. Leider hatte es der Wettergott mit uns nicht so gut gemeint.
