Berlin Lakes
Multifarious around the capital.
Arrival in Potsdam
Afterwards you have time to stroll through the capital Brandenburgs.
Impressed by the sights of Potsdam you cycle at first along the Havel to Werder with its beautiful, on an island located old town. Fruit-growing and lakes shape the landscape till you reach your destination of today: Brandenburg at the Havel.
Today you will first drive along the Beetzsee. You will reach the neo-baroque Ribbeck Castle with its famous pear tree. Kremmen is known for its historic barn district. It is considered the largest preserved of its kind in Germany. After often elaborate and loving restoration of many barns, craftsmen, artists and restaurateurs have settled here.
Liebenberg Castle with its beautiful landscape park and gastronomy invites you to stop for a break. A detour is worthwhile to the brickyard in Mildenberg. It was once the largest in Europe and today serves as an industrial and technical museum. You will spend the night in Zehdenick. Here it is worth visiting sights such as the monastery complex, the Elisabeth Mill, the old town hall or the Havel Castle.
You will drive along the Havel canals to your destination of the day, Oranienburg. A visit to the oldest baroque palace in the Mark Brandenburg is recommended. Today, many works of art are housed in the palace museum. Oranienburg is also the site of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial and Museum, which was established in the town after the Oranienburg Concentration Camp, which was dissolved in 1934 and was the site of many Nazi crimes.
On the Havel cycle path you will reach the Berlin district of Spandau. Spandau offers you urban flair as well as recreational areas rich in forests and water. In addition, there are sights such as the Spandau Citadel, one of the best-preserved High Renaissance fortresses in Europe. You can also quickly reach the center of Berlin by public transport.
Along the Havel River you will travel to Wannsee Lake and from there take a ferry (optional) to Potsdam, your destination today. Worth seeing here is especially the World Heritage Site with a total of over 500 hectares of parks and about 150 buildings. Sanssouci Palace is one of the most famous of them.
