Flanders

Individual journey to Antwerp. You will spend the night in the comfortable Hotel Plaza in the Jewish Quarter.

By bike to the centre of Antwerp, then along the rivers Schelde and Rupel. The route leads through an old brick-making area before reaching the "bell-ringing city" of Mechelen. The modern city hotel where we stay overnight was built on the site of an old brewery and is located on a small canal not far from the historic market square.

With the bikes, we head west along idyllic and wider river courses. In between, a small ferry crossing. From Dendermonde, you have the option of arriving in Ghent by train or by bike. Two nights in the charming Ghent River Hotel, from where you can explore the old town on foot.

Along the meandering Leie River through a landscape whose idyllic setting has inspired artists for more than a hundred years. Through noble villa districts with park-like grounds and past houseboats along small paths back to Ghent.

Through the vast Flemish plain and along canals to the incomparable "museum city" of Bruges: situated on the Reie, criss-crossed by canals and with a largely preserved medieval townscape. Two nights at the Hotel de' Medici, idyllically situated on the canal, just a few minutes from the market square.

Along a quiet, poplar-lined canal first to the "Till Eulenspiegel town" of Damme. Via the Dutch town of Sluis, the route leads to the bird sanctuary Het Zwin and the modern seaside resort of Knokke on the North Sea. Through the fertile marshlands with scattered farmsteads and along the canal again, the route returns to Bruges.
