Fairytale landscapes, castles and palaces, picturesque vineyards and tasty wines as well as cities full of culture and history at the very highest level - welcome to the Palatinate! The 4-day tour with Eurobike is the perfect short trip to get away from it all for a few days. What is very important? Good food and good wine! There's plenty of that in this region in sun-kissed, south-western Germany.
Details of the tour with Eurobike
Start in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, which is one of the most delightful towns in the Palatinate. Stroll through the town centre and explore the characteristic half-timbered houses. Interesting: Together with its nine wine villages, Neustadt is the second-largest municipality in Germany in terms of viticulture.
The first stage has several special features! First, we head to Speyer, where the cathedral is a must-see, but the lively Maximilianstrasse and the banks of the Rhine are also worth a visit. You will also pass the magnificent baroque castle of Schwetzingen on today's stage. Now Heidelberg awaits - the "City of Science" - which has much more to offer than "just" the oldest university in Germany. The next day, Worms, the city of the Nibelungen, is on the programme. On the last day, enjoy the full beauty of the Palatinate once again on the way back to Neustadt.
Highlights of the 4-day cycling tour Speyer-Heidelberg-Worms
Speyer Cathedral has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. It is considered one of the most important Romanesque buildings and is the burial place of numerous German emperors and kings. The crypt and the imperial vault are particularly worth seeing.
Idyll along the arms of the Old Rhine: In the 19th century, the Rhine was straightened, partly due to shipping. Today, many of the original Rhine bends are still filled with water and form natural floodplain landscapes with exceptional fauna and flora.
Vibrant Heidelberg: A University city and thus also full of liveliness. Immerse yourself in the romantic city on the Neckar and explore the Philosophenweg and the Märzgasse. From beaches to pedal boat rentals, the people of Heidelberg love to enjoy their time by and on the water. Tip: Be sure to try the famous ‘Studentenkuss’!
Small winegrowing villages along the Weinstrasse: full of charm and enjoyment, this sun-drenched region is where even figs and sweet chestnuts ripen. And, of course, excellent wines that want to be tasted at the numerous winegrowers. And a hearty snack with a view of half-timbered houses and grapevines - are you already excited?

Tour character
You will mainly cycle on flat terrain. Only in the vineyards between Worms and Bad Dürkheim, there are some slight climbs.
