Arrival in Copenhagen
The Danish capital has a lot to offer. You can stroll through the historic city center or visit the famous Tivoli amusement park.
You leave Copenhagen heading north. Today's stage follows the Öresund, the strait between Zealand in Denmark and Skåne in Sweden. Always with a view of the Baltic Sea, you will quickly reach the famous Bellevue lido. A dip in the cool water will refresh you. In Helsingør, a visit to Kronborg Castle is worthwhile. Alternatively, take the ferry for a short trip to Helsingborg on the Swedish side.
Take some time to visit the old harbour town of Helsingør before continuing your cycle tour. The coastal resorts of Hornbæk and Gilleleje will charm you and invite you to relax. The rest of the route takes you away from the coast and inland.
You will pass extensive nature reserves and small lakes. Impressed by the numerous contrasts, you will reach your destination for the day in Hillerød. Visit Frederiksborg Castle or simply treat yourself to a good glass of wine at the hotel - both are a crowning conclusion to the day.
You cycle back to the coast. The small idyllic villages of Tisvildeleje and Liseleje, along with numerous beaches, exude their charm. Today's stage destination is Højby. This picturesque little town lies on the opposite side of the Isefjord, and the ferry ticket to Rørvig is included.
On the Odsherred peninsula, you are practically never far from the sea, the dunes, and the beautiful salty sea air. You will find the most beautiful sandy beaches there. But today's cycling stage also has a lot to offer: Always along the coast of the Isefjord, Lammefjord, and Holbækfjord, breathtaking impressions await you. The harbour town of Holbæk was first mentioned in 1199. The Evangelical Lutheran St. Nikolai Church is worth a visit.
Today, you begin your journey south along the Isefjord. Green meadows and charming villages await you. The final stretch of your route leads along the bay of Roskilde. Roskilde Cathedral welcomes you from afar.
Since the early 15th century, the cathedral has served as the preferred burial church of the Danish royal family and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. The Viking Ship Museum is also well worth a visit.
The final stage takes you directly back to the starting point of your cycling tour, the Danish capital Copenhagen. From Albertslund, you can utilize the super-fast cycle route C99, which guides you to the city centre with minimal traffic. In the afternoon, there is still ample time to explore the city at your own pace. During a leisurely stroll, you can reflect on all the wonderful impressions from your cycling tour through North Zealand.
Your tour will finish in Copenhagen after breakfast. You can extend your stay or return home.
