Denmark is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy cycling in the wide open spaces of one of the world's best cycling holiday destinations. The Danish even have a term for this called 'hygge'. This is the philosophy of being content, happy, and feeling cosy whilst doing something that you love.
The country is home to a vast network of cycle paths that stretch over its many islands and coastal regions. You can cycle around the North Sea Cycle Route or the Baltic Sea Cycle Route. Many routes offer wonderful views of the Danish countryside with white sandy beaches, lush forests and tranquil lakes to explore.
The Danes love to cycle and Denmark has an extensive network of cycle routes and cycle paths (approx. 11,000 km) which means that you can get almost anywhere by bike making Denmark ideal for a cycling holiday.
Out of all of the cities that our cycling holidays set off from, few can be better for a cycling holiday than the Danish capital of Copenhagen. The city is one of the most cycle-friendly destinations in the whole world and has held the title of 'most bike-friendly city in the world' since 2015.
Over 65% of commuters travel by bike to work or school. Well-designed cycle paths stretch right across the city and many cycle paths are segregated away from traffic. Many of our cycling holidays start in Copenhagen and head into the surrounding North Zealand region. Beyond the capital region, North Jutland is great for seeing a different side of Denmark.
North Jutland is a peninsula that divides the Baltic and North Seas. In the south, Jutland is connected to Germany and is only a couple of hours away from Hamburg. Thanks to its great location, you will find unspoilt beaches, large stretches of coastline, forests and trendy cities such as Aarhus.
