The climate in the Algarve
Those who like the sun will love their stay in the Algarve. With over 3000 hours of sunshine per year, the Algarve is one of the sunniest places in Europe. Perfect conditions for a hiking holiday. Don’t be afraid of excessive heat – the wind blowing in from the Atlantic reduces the high temperatures and creates a pleasant climate for active holidays.

The local cuisine
Could it be any other way in a region by the sea? The cuisine of the Algarve is strongly influenced by fish. The undisputed dish of the area is called Bacalhau. This is dried cod. Another Portuguese delicacy is the Arroz de marisco, which is a little bit like seafood risotto. Frango piri-piri is a hot and spicy chicken dish. You should definitely try a dish called Cataplana, which can best be described as the Portuguese answer to the Asian stir fry. Fish, meat or seafood is mixed together with potatoes, peppers and onions to form a tasty dish. Simply heavenly!
