The hiking trail promises active holidaymakers hungry for exercise a particularly demanding trekking tour over 67 kilometres and daily stages of 4.5 to 7.5 hours. The trekking tour starts in the Bavarian Olympic city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and ends in Innsbruck. You will spend the night along the route in cosy mountain huts such as the Schachenhaus or the Halleranger Alm. Trans Tyrol: Garmisch – Innsbruck
On our trekking tour Trans Tyrol: Garmisch - Innsbruck, 8 days you will explore the best of the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountains by foot. Starting from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the first round trip leads you through the Höllentalklamm to the Höllentalangerhütte, which is located directly at the foot of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. After a relaxing overnight stay in Garmisch you head high up the following day. You hike the steep hiking trail to the Schachen castle at 1,866 metres above sea level. Right next door is the Schachenhaus – the day’s place to stay. Impressive summit experiences await you again the next day. The route takes you to the pass, as well as to the border hut and back down into the Leutasch Valley to Scharnitz in Austria. The hiking stage on the fifth day of your trekking tour takes you into the Karwendel Valley and on to the Halleranger Alm, where you can relax for the next two nights. On the following day you can decide whether you want to take a day off or go on one of the multi-faceted summit hikes in the Karwendel mountains. The last hiking stage involves the Karwendel crossing on a wonderful high path to the northern chain. From the Hafelekar mountain station, the Hafelekarbahn takes you to your final destination of Innsbruck.
