Cornwall's Coastal Path

St. Ives to Penzance.

The north and west coasts of Cornwall have a unique atmosphere – a mixture of the charm of St. Ives, famously beloved of artists and home to a branch of the Tate Gallery, to some of the wildest and most dramatic scenery along the entire English coastline. Add to this the wildlife, from Peregrine Falcons to dolphins, the fascinating mining heritage, the exhilaration of standing at Land’s End, the magnificent open-air Minack Theater, and the pretty fishing villages of Mousehole and Newlyn, and you have a magnificent moderate walking holiday.

Details about the hiking holiday Cornwall's Coastal Path

Experience coastal hikes, wonderful panoramas and enjoy a particularly mild hiking climate. That and much more awaits you on our six-day hiking tour in Great Britain. The starting point of this hiking holiday and numerous experiences is St. Ives, the fabulous coastal town and cultural capital of Cornwall. The route takes you to Zennor, Cape Cornwall, into the charming artist’s town St. Just, onwards to Land’s End, Porthurno and finally into the town of Penzance located directly at the entrance of the English Channel.

Highlights of the hiking on Cornwall's Coastal Path

  • Culture and History: You experience the history of the region up close in numerous historical sites and sights. Particularly impressive is the Minack Open-Air Theatre, which was built directly into a rocky slope near Porthcurno and is close to the southernmost tip of Great Britain, ‘Land’s End’. Also worth seeing are the two fishing villages of Mousehole and Newlyn, which are still home to many artists.
  • Great Britain’s southernmost point: On the fourth day of your hiking tour you will hike to the famous ‘Land’s End’, the southernmost point of Great Britain.
  • ‘The most beautiful place …’: Nestled behind rocky cliffs and rugged granite hills is the village of Zennor. This community was denoted by the English writer D. H. Lawrence as arguably ‘the most beautiful place, much prettier than the Mediterranean’. Not surprising that the region around Zennor is a nature reserve.
  • Breathtaking coasts and bays: The hikes to the westernmost point of Cornwall, Cape Cornwall, and to the sandy bay ‘Whitesand Bay’ are particularly impressive.

This seaside town offers steep streets, magnificent views, a rushing surf and a beautiful light that has magically attracted artists for centuries. The Tate Gallery of St. Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Sculpture Garden are just some of the reasons why St. Ives was considered the cultural capital of Cornwall.

Your hiking trip begins with a leisurely hike from St. Ives out to Clodgy Point, later on it goes on hilly terrain of the high cliffs always accompanied by beautiful bays to Zennor. Zennor was described by D. H. Lawrence as "the most beautiful place, much prettier than the Mediterranean" and the area around this beautiful place was certified as a nature reserve. On to the famous "Land's End", the southernmost tip of Great Britain. Enjoy the view of the wide, blue Atlantic Ocean. Along the steep coast to the open-air Minack Theater.

Einfach traumhaft!
