The next stages take you for several hours over the beautiful vineyards of the region up to the Haut-Königsbourg Castle. This castle is not only impressive but also has an exceptionally beautiful location. On a rock plateau at an altitude of 757 metres, it attracts around 600 000 visitors every year.

Nahezu perfekt!

Wonderful hike through medieval Alsace
Alsace villages are gorgeous. Every late afternoon, once cleaned up, we would go to the tourist office and pick up a village walking map. These maps guide you on a tour of the highlights of every village we stayed in. The food along the hike is great. Make sure you eat your lunch/déjeuner at the Auberge du Hungerplatz on your way from Barr to Andlau. Unbelievable cuisine accompanied by local folks sharing the dining room with you. The only downside of the trip is, unlike our other Eurohike trip we have done, there are no alternative routes supplied in case weather conditions are poor. The local coordinator, supplies two very complete topographic maps that allow you to map out your own alternatives instead.
