Ireland mesmerises with its extremely beautiful panoramic hiking tours along coasts and with a variety of hikes in the heart of the country. In Ireland's wild west, hikers encounter rugged cliffs, secluded beaches, almost endless upland moors and small islands far into the Atlantic. The Irish hospitality completes the experience of a perfect hiking holiday.

Hiking route Ireland's Western Way

Ireland’s wild west

The hike on Ireland’s Western Way kicks off with the famous Cliffs of Moher, followed by a breath-taking coastal hike on an escarpment. The route is much more leisurely on the Arran Islands. A good 1200 inhabitants live on the three islands, Inishmore being the largest of the three. This island is home to the world-famous ruins of Dún Aonghasa, a UNESCO world heritage site. Back on the mainland, the hike continues past moors and scenic lakes to the only fjord in Connemara. Basic fitness and a head for heights would be an advantage for certain hikes in Ireland.
