Cycling holidays North-South Gotthard & Tessin
Cycling: North-South-Route
The tour through the Reuss plain to Amsteg is flat and easy to master. Continue through the Urnerland, where the wild Reuss river roars down the Schöllenen Gorge between steep mountain flanks and under the Devil's Bridge.
Göschenen – Airolo
Optional train ride between Göschenen and Andermatt and then up to the Gotthard Pass. Alpine transit route of European importance. Whether on horseback, by train, car or bicycle: everything wanted and still wants to go south over the Gotthard.
Airolo – Biasca
The Leventina has been a transit corridor since time immemorial. The further south you go, the milder the climate becomes.
Biasca – Bellinzona
You drive effortlessly along the Ticino river, soon passing chestnut trees and vineyards. Bellinzona is called "Turrita" because of its three castles.
Drive to Cadenazzo and by train to Rivera Bironico. From Monte Ceneri a clear view of the vegetable garden of Ticino and Lake Maggiore. From Agno by train to the centre of Lugano.
Train ride back to Agno. The postcard beauty of the blue Lago di Lugano is, for thousands, an intimate holiday dream, Morcote as a photo motif. The Mendrisiotto, the largest wine-growing area in Ticino with numerous oenogastronomic offerings, is located in the southernmost tip of Switzerland.
Tour character
The ride across the Alps is made somewhat easier by the short stages. From Amsteg steadily uphill and after the pass steadily downhill. Traffic must be expected around the urban centres. Cobblestones on the Tremolastrasse on the Gotthard.

Leave the car at home! For every bike, biking or hiking tour in Switzerland, you will receive an SBB coupon per participant, which you can use to deduct CHF 10 from the ticket price for traveling by train. The reduction can be obtained in the SBB online store or in the SBB app.
On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year. Unfortunately, a retroactive refund is not possible for administrative reasons.
